Low Fat Easy Bolognese

Ahh a classic bolognese. The star of the show always! Bolognese can be made with beef or veal but we want to keep it nice and healthy so in this recipe I use lean organic grass fed beef. I made this recipe over and over until I was happy with it. It's full of love..and flavor! I hope you enjoy it.

Ingredients

  • 1 Celery Stalk
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 Yellow onion
  • 1 lb Grass Fed Organic Lean Beef I recommend 10% fat
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup Dry white wine
  • 14 oz Whole Canned Tomatoes
  • 2 oz Parmesan, grated freshly grated or high quality only
  • 1 slice of parmesan rind- about 1" long
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup Fat Free Cream or half and half

Instructions

  • Let's mince the vegetables. You want to grab your celery, carrot and onion and make sure they are VERY finely minced. If preferred, you may use a food processor to speed it up!
  • Add some olive oil to a saucepan and heat over medium heat. Once it is hot, add your vegetables. Saute for about 6-8 minutes or until onions become translucent.
  • Add your ground beef and be sure to ground up the beef well. Saute for about 6-8 minutes until brown on all sides. Don't let it cook completely.
  • Add the white wine to the pan. Let it completely dissolve. This should take atleast 10 minutes.
  • While that is cooking, take out your whole tomatoes and dice them up roughly. Once the wine is evaporated, add the tomatoes and its sauce to the pan. Add 1 tsp of salt, the bay leaf, the cream, grated parmesan cheese and the parmesan rind. Let it simmer lightly for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the rind and bay leaf. Sprinkle with more parmesan cheese. Serve with your favorite pasta.
