Mediterranean Turkey Burger Pita Pockets
This recipe reminds me of getting those warm pita wraps off a food truck on the streets late at night. Ok maybe there was some alcohol involved but that’s irrelevant. This recipe brings that memory back to life but in a healthy way!
Mediterranean Turkey Burger Pita Pockets
If you are still buying those pre-seasoned raw burgers from the supermarket, you are missing out big time. Not only is making your own burgers is so easy, but it also tastes 100 times better. Those pre-made burgers are awful! They dry up into little sad disc shaped pieces of meat. No no no! Time to upgrade my little chefs!Making your own burgers is fun because you can literally throw in whatever you want. For this recipe, I wanted them to be a bit Mediterranean so I used some sweet red peppers and feta. However, feel free to do whatever you want! You can throw some onion in there which would be absolutely delicious(extra points if you caramelize them). Or maybe even some black olives. Have fun with it!
Ingredients
- 1 lb Ground Turkey don't buy breast as it will be too dry
- 1/4 cup Canned Sweet Red Peppers You can also find these in the deli area sometimes as it is a popular antipasto item
- 1/3 cup Reduced Fat Feta Cheese, Crumbled
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar half a lemon juiced works too
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine your ground turkey, peppers, feta, salt, Italian seasoning and balsamic vinegar. Mix until well combined.
- Form the meat into 4 burger patties.
Air Fry
- Cook at 360 degrees for 15 minutes and make sure to flip them over halfway.
Stove Top
- Spray your non stick skillet with spray and set it over medium high heat. Cook each patty for about 6 minutes per side.
- I recommend serving this inside a pita stuffed with lettuce, tomatoes, onion and my amazing tzatziki sauce!
