Easy Shrimp Creole

This Cajun recipe uses the holy trinity of Creole food(celery, pepper, onion) to create a dish bursting with flavor. This recipe is so easy to make and absolutely delicious!

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 lbs Shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tsp Creole Seasoning
  • 1 Yellow Onion
  • 2 Celery Ribs
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper
  • 4 Garlic Cloves, Minced
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 cup Low Sodium Chicken Broth
  • 15 oz Tomato Sauce(No salt added)
  • .5 tsp Dried Thyme
  • .5 tsp Dried Oregano
  • .5 tsp Dried Basil
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Scallions for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Toss shrimp with 1 tsp of Cajun seasoning and set aside.
  • Dice your onion, bell pepper and celery. Add to a pan on medium high heat and cook for about 10 minutes until they become glossy. Add in your garlic and cook until fragrant (about 1-2 minutes).
  • Add your chicken broth, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, all of your seasonings, bay leaves and the other tsp of Cajun seasoning. Bring to a simmer and then cook on low for about 10 minutes making sure it does not burn. If you see the sauce drying up, add more chicken broth.
  • Toss in your shrimp and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Turn over shrimp and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle scallions on top and serve.
